So where is the long-awaited Agriculture Bill?
This morning in Defra Questions, I asked the Minister what had happened to the Agriculture Bill. In my role as Shadow Minister for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, I've spent months scrutinising this mammoth bill, but it's now ground to a halt by this Government in paralysis.
Perhaps the explanation could be that they are adding measures to reduce carbon emissions, following parliament's declaration of a climate emergency? Certainly, the Minister did not provide an adequate explanation this morning.
For farmers, their families and rural communities, this uncertainty about the future of agriculture has a real impact.
