"Liz Ashton, an asset to the community" - Polls about to open in Berkeley Vale
Polls open on Thursday 28 February for the by-election for the Berkeley Vale ward of Stroud District Council.
Polls are open at 7am to 10pm, on Thursday 28 February. Your polling station is listed on your polling card, although you don’t need your polling card to vote.
David Drew MP has called on voters there to support Liz Ashton, Labour’s candidate.
“I’ve known Liz for many years, and know how committed she is to the community and the area. She’s been a district councillor before and brings a wealth of experience to the role.
“At a time when local services are stretched and council’s budgets are tight we really need committed people like Liz on Stroud District Council working hard for their communities.”
David and Liz, along with other local Labour party members were pleased to welcome Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry to Dursley to join them for a day in Dursley and Berkeley to discuss policy ideas and get out on the street campaigning and meeting local people.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Emily to our corner of Gloucestershire and I know she enjoyed her visit very much . Emily gave her support to our local members and candidate Liz Ashton ahead of the district council by-election in Berkeley Vale. Emily inspired us with her talk which covered Brexit, housing policy and the unfairness of the Government’s welfare reforms, particularly Universal Credit, before she headed out with the team to meet the community."
It was a busy and full day, and evening for David.
“They let me loose on the decks at the Rave4Dave! Thank you so much to everyone who worked hard to organise a great day, and evening.”
