Summer 2018. Celebrating the best of Stroud
Summer 2018 Office arrangements.
Please be aware that during August staffing will be reduced in my office and response times may be slower.
"We will be holidaying ‘at home’ this year, visiting Orkney and Shetland, something we’ve always promised we would do sometime. We are excited at the prospect of going to these Scottish islands and exploring the diversity within our own nations.
In complete contrast to exploring the furthest reaches of the UK, this year I’ve spent much of my working week in London, with the fortunate benefit of having the odd opportunity to visit museums and galleries.
I still like to wander around these wonderful institutions, many of which are fortunately still free, and reflect on the heritage and creativity we have as a nation.
Yet, I always look forward to returning to Stroud, whether that’s from the capital or the Northern Isles. Parliament is now on recess, and that means for the rest of the summer my working week will be spent in the constituency.
Summer in the valleys and vale is always a pleasure. Not only are we fortunate to have a vibrant community which puts on many free event - I enjoyed Stroud Country Show very much earlier this month - but we have so many picturesque picnic spots, as well as our own ‘attractions.’
The Museum in Park at Stratford Park, always presents an engaging summer programme, and the park itself is a great place to wander and relax.
I’ve written before about how interesting it is to visit the Jenner Museum in Berkeley, and we are lucky to have Berkeley Castle and Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, which make great days out.
Supporting our local attractions is not only something I recommend, but I have no doubt that ‘exploring Stroud’ inspires children about our own rich heritage."
