Global Britain: the need for links with fast-growing economies
Committing to a truly #GlobalBritain means we must keep opening new doors and not just closing them. On my trip to Albania during recess, I found Tirana to be a vibrant modern city with a fast-growing economy.
Indeed, with its young population (average age 28), the IMF puts it in the top 5 European countries in its predictions for best economic growth in 2018 (Romania, Malta, Latvia, Estonia then Albania.)
Ironically, as Albania and former enemy Serbia petition hard to get into the EU, we are leaving. In spite of #Brexit, we must keep #trade relations open with new economies like those emerging in the Western Balkans.
