Win a 'Vote 100' T-shirt with David's quiz to celebrate UK Parliament Week
It’s 100 years since the first women gained the right to vote and it’s also UK Parliament Week, November 12 to 18.
David Drew MP is inviting Stroud constituents to get involved in UK Parliament Week, find out more about our democracy and take part in his fun quiz (see bottom of this page).
He’s already invited secondary schools in the constituency to get involved, sending out prize packs of Vote 100 T-shirts and badges, as well as his Vote 100 quiz.
UK Parliament Week is a UK-wide festival taking place from 12-18 November, which aims to engage people, especially young people with the UK Parliament and empower them to get involved.
The week is also part of the Vote 100 programme, celebrating equal voting rights and other milestones in the UK’s democratic history.
Centenaries this year include the Parliament (Qualification of Women) Act which gave women over 21 the right to stand for election as an MP (21 November), and the 1918 General Election when women over 30 and all men over 21 voted for the first time (14 December).
David Drew MP said: “As member of parliament for Stroud, I’m keen to ensure that our voters and citizens of tomorrow understand how vital their participation is in our democracy.
“I’ve designed this quiz to celebrate a century of womens’ achievements in politics - although there is still much work to be done,” he said.
David’s office has five Vote 100 T-shirts to give away.
Email your answers and your address to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Wednesday 21 November. Please state what size T-shirt you need - women’s size 10, 12 or 14.
